    China is a country with an area of about 9,600,000 square kimometers, covering wide longtitudes and latitudes. Hence, the climate and customs distinguishly differ place to place. Meanwhile, China has an amzingly long city-building history so still nowadays many of the cities or twons that were built hundreds of years ago are well preserved. In order to show our visitors the colorful traditional Chinese city construction style and the interesting customs and folklores, CTE precisely organized some ancient town tours dedicated to introduce Chinese culture from another angle.

    The towns in the Yangtze River delta in east China, a modernized region considered the economic powerhouse of China, stand out for their traditional appearance, anchored in centuries-old buildiing styles "It was not easy to protect the original sites while maintaining economic development, but fortunately we made it."

     

    Zhouzhuang's history dates back to the Spring and Autumn Period(770-476BC).It earned its present name after a very devout Buddist,Zhou Digong,donated a temple to the town during the Northern Song Dynasty(960-1127AD).Sixty percent of the town's structures were built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the oldest of which dates back to the 14th century.You will  be touched by the history of old town and mordern metropolis.

     

    Ancient towns in east China retain traditional style despite modernization .The small towns boast houses with white walls and black tile roofs sprawling down long narrow lanes, and stone arch bridges spanning rivers.The lucky residents enjoy outdoor living in summer, eating and chatting in their leafy surrounds.Due to careful protection, lots of traditional houses, historicsites, and fascinating gardens remain almost intact in the one square km area of the town.

     

    The ancient Town of Lijiang, a well-preserved old city of ethnic minorities with brilliant culture, is a central town of the Lijiang Autonomous County of the Naxi Ethnic Minority in Yunnan Province. Located on the plateau which is 2,400 meters (7,874 feet) above the sea level and embraced by the tree-covered Lion Mountain in the west, Elephant and Golden Row Mountains in the north, vast fertile fields in the southeast and crystal clear water running through, the old town looks like a big jade ink slab, therefore got the alias the Town of Big Ink Slab (DayanzheMean).

     


    Shangeri La-Diqing (Xiangelila): In 1939, American novelist James Hilton wrote a book named Lost Horizon, in which he described a paradise-like and peaceful land where there are snow-mountains and deep valleys, brilliant temples and halls, green forest and clear lakes, a crowds of ox and sheep on the wide grasslands.Diqing in Tibetan is "lucky place".
