6-Day Ceramics and Porcelain Tour

Day 1  Shanghai Arrival
 
Arrive in Shanghai, be met at the airport by the tour guide from CTE, then transfer to the hotel.

Day 2  Shanghai-Yixing
Drive to Yixing, which is most famous nationalwide for its purple sand pottery production, among which teapots are the major product. For thousands of years the unique qualities of the extensive "purple sand" clay deposits in and around Yixing have supported a thriving pottery industry. They make excellent gifts, fine ornamentals and are very "collectable", too! Works of masters both ancient and modern can now command extremely high prices in recent years. We will visit the local pottery history museum, pottery research institute and purple sand village where you can see a lot of family-based workshops of pottery production. In addition, we'll pay a visit to the biggest state-owned pottery factory. For those who are fond of purple sand teapots, here is the right place to do the shopping.

Day 3  Hangzhou Sightseeing
Today we'll drive to Hangzhou, a scenic destination comparable favourably to the heaven ever since the ancient time for its graceful West Lake, surrouding scenery and temples. We will make an excursion on the lake before visiting Linying Temple which is most famous for its "laughing Buddha". Finally we will go to Longjin Village to sample its famous Degaon Well Green Tea.

Day 4  Huangshan-Tunxi
We need to drive for 5 hours today to reach Tunxi in Huangshan City. Tunxi's Old Street is lined with ancient wooden buildings from the Song dynasty, many of which have been converted into antique shops selling furniture and souvenirs. On the Old Street there are quite a few of tea shops where you may have a good pastime by drinking a cup of local tea.

Day 5 Tunxi-Jingdezhen
We will take a bus ride for about 3 hours to arrive in Jingdezhen, widly known as the "Capital of Ceramics of China" for its porcelain and pottery production ever since the Han Dynasty. From the Song Dynasty, its products were popular with the imperial court and royal families. Many of the porcelain articles collected by foreign musems were produced here. We will visit History Museum of Ceramics and Ancient Kiln, Porcelain Factory and Sanbao Workshop.

Day 6  Jingdezhen-Shanghai
Today we will be visiting Kiln at Hutian, Porcelain Research Institute and Porcelain Bazaar where you can do shopping. Take flight to Shanghai in the evening,end tour.
