Pingyao ancient city has a history of about 200 years. It is believed that the earliest banks of China were came into being at Pingyao.The traditional chinese archetectures are seen here and there in this old town...

Personal expenses such as laundry, drink, fax, telephone call, optional activities, etc. G. Gratuities, tips to guides, drivers, bellboys, etc. H. Excess Baggage Charges. 1.Visa: All clients must be in possession of a valid passport and necessary visas or permits at the commencement of travel. All such documentation is the sole responsibility of the client. Your travel advisor may assist you in applying for the necessary travel documentation upon request. Travel Every accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever for the failure of clients to obtain appropriate documentation. 2.Travel Health: Clients should take into account all international travel risks and familiarize themselves with health requirements applicable to the areas they intend to visit. The client is solely responsible for checking the safety and security conditions, vaccination, and other health requirements of governments in countries visited or transited. Travelers to Tibet are required to provide a doctor's certificate stating that the he/she is fit to travel and his/her blood pressure and heart condition are normal. This is a necessary requirement because of the possible effects that the very high altitude may have on certain people. 3. Baggage Allowance: In accordance with regulations of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, the free baggage allowance within China is 20kg for the economy class, 30kg for the business class, and 40kg for the first class, plus limited carry-on luggage. Excess baggage charges are the sole responsibility of the client. Regulations within China specify that all suitcases must have a locking device attached. Failure to follow this regulation may result in refusal by airport staff to load suitcases onto the aircraft. 4. China Travel Insurance: Travel Every tour packages include China Life Tourist Accident/Casualty Insurance up to a maximum of $29,000 provided free of charge as part of our package. We still highly recommend that you purchase full coverage travel insurance from your country of origin. Insurance provided by Travel Every is not applicable where only hotel or China flight booking are purchased through New Travel 5. Complaints: Shall you feel unsatisfied with any service Travel Every has provided, please notify your local tour guide or your travel advisor to avoid the potential similar problems happening again in the rest of your trip. In the event of a complaint or claim for compensation, you must inform us by email, regular mail, or facsimile in writing within 15 days from the end of your tour. Relevant receipts and substantiating evidence must be attached to the letter of claim. Travel Every will not be liable for any claims made later than 15 days after the completion of your tour. 6. Tour Booking: You can contact Travelevery via the web form from Travelevery email, fax, or phone. If for any reason, you fail to receive any reply from Travelevery in regard of your tour status within 48 hours from the time you submitted the request for booking, modifying, or canceling a tour, please contact New Travel customer service center phone at 86-28-66507781 immediately to ensure that we are able to deal with your enquiry under the terms of our Terms and Conditions. 7. Cancellation Refunds We would deeply regret your decision to cancel your trip to China, however we realize that there are many valid reasons that this can happen. In the event of cancellation we will refund any payment made to Travelevery (less any cancellation fee that is applicable) within 14 days of our receipt of your written cancellation request. The cancellation fee will be calculated as follows: A. Cancellation received more than 35 days before departure: 10 % of tour price, but may be applied for your next trip within 18 months. B. Cancellation received from 21 to 35 days before departure: 10% of the tour price + full cost of Yangtze River Cruise if applicable. C. Cancellation received from 7 to 20 days before departure: 20% of the tour price + full cost of Yangtze River Cruise if applicable. D. Cancellation received from 3 to 6 days before departure: 50% of the tour price + full cost of Yangtze River Cruise if applicable. E. Cancellation received from 2 to 0 days before departure: 100% of the tour price + full cost of Yangtze River Cruise if applicable. No-show travelers will be charged 100% of the tour price full cost of Yangtze River Cruise if applicable. After the trip has commenced, we are unable to refund any amount for unused services due to your early departure, late arrival, or missed days on tours. Special Notes For Yangtze River Cruise: The payment for the Yangtze River Cruise can not be refunded if the cancellation notice is received less than 35 days prior to the date of the cruise. 8. God’s act : Travelevery shall not be liable for any loss, injury, or damage to person or property, alteration of itineraries or cancellation in part or in full, caused by climatic conditions, sea fire, breakdown of machinery or equipment, acts of government or other authorities, wars whether or not declared, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, terrorist activities, or any other actions, omissions or conditions beyond Travelevery 's control. Neither Travelevery nor any of its affiliates or subsidiaries shall be or become liable or responsible for any additional expenses of liability sustained or incurred by the tour member as a result of any of the aforementioned causes. TravelEvery shall not be responsible for any wrongful or negligent or fraudulent, omissions, changes of itinerary, cancellation or the failure of any equipment operated by any suppliers such as transportation carriers, cruise, and hotels, or any other party not directly owned or controlled by Travelevery. |
Day 1 arrival at Pingyao
Upon your arrival at Pingyao, our local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. The tour today will include the Ancient City Wall, Rishengchang Exchange Shop and Ming and Qing Street. You will have some free time to explore this old city.
- Pingyao: a small city with 2700 years old history, famous for its well preserved ancient city walls and streets. As it borders on the southern edge of the TaiyuanBasin and joins the Loess Plateau to the south along the banks of the Yellow River, it has been an important communication hub and a famous commercial center over the country in the old days.
- The Ancient City Wall: first erected in the Zhou dynasty (827-728 BC) and last rebuilt in the Ming dynasty (1368-1644 AD), it is one of the best-preserved ancient city walls in China. With 12 meters high and 5 meters thick, a total length of 6.4 kilometers long, with 3,000 crenels and 72 watchtowers on the wall surrounded by moats, this stoic city wall played an important role in protecting Pingyao from invasions from 14th to 19th century, allowing the city to prosper swiftly.
Ming and Qing Street in Pingyao
- Rishengchang Exchange Shop: Rishengchang means “sunrise prosperity,” this shop is China’s first bank and was originally established in 1823. Now converted into a museum, there are 21 buildings surrounding three courtyards. On either side of the front yard are the counters, main banking activities were carried out in the middle courtyard house, which functioned as an exchange center.
- Ming and Qing Street: also called Nanda Jie, the main downtown thoroughfare well preserved in Ming and Qing style, it is one of the best places to explore ancient Chinese culture, where you can see hotels offering traditional brick-oven beds, restaurants serving Pingyao's famous beef and shops selling a dazzling array of art wares. This bustling bazaar was the commercial centre during the dynastic periods with over 700 stores and shops, most of these time-honored stores continue to thrive to today.

Day 2 Departure from Pingyao
Today, you will visit Qiao Family's Compound, ShuanglinTemple before your transfer to the railway station for your train to your next destination.
Qiao Family's Compound
- Qiao Family's Compound: located 20 kilometers north of Pingyao, built in 1756 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), this well-preserved and exquisite structure used to be the residence of a powerful trading family with significant commercial influence even beyond ShanxiProvince, despite the fact that the Qiao family have ceased to have any influence since the 1940's. It was this mansion that was used as the setting for the famous film 'Raise the Red Lantern' directed by Zhang Yimou.
- ShuanglinTemple: having a history of more than 1500 years, the temple is famous for its 2,502 exquisitely painted clay figurines and statues of Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, and is famed as "treasure-house of color sculpture arts".
