We then walk to the Sera Monastery in the afternoon as warm up for the trek ahead. The Sera Monastery is well known as one of the three great monasteries of Tibet along with Drepung and Ganden. The Buddhist scripture debates at 3 pm every day offer us a vivid image of the life and studies of the monks.

Once we get on the top, we will see the snow and the prayer flags. This pass is snow capped all year round. After taking some pictures at the pass, we will start our trek towards Balang Tsoto, and set up camp at the site of a small lake. This is a relatively busy area, nomads and their yaks can be seen here and there. We suggest that you don??t go too close to the nomadic tents as they have mastiffs, which can be quite dangerous.
