Drive 104km from Xining, we arrive at Daotanghe,where two roads diverge,to the right is the road to Kokonor.
Head left is the way to Chabcha.Descending 25km from Liushaogou Pass(3,580m), we arrive at the county town,
where is the capital of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.

Madoi is a small town with a population of 10,000 people among them are mostly Tibetans.People always say that never to live in Madoi because most of the people who lived there felt a severe headache for its high altitude

After simple breakfast,we drive along the Yellow River to Madoi Village,after about 30km we see Ngoring and Kyaring Lakes,which are called sister lakes and Ngoring Lake is much blue than Kyaring Lake because most mud and sand flow into Kyaring Lake and deposit there.The scenery is fantastic.In spring and summer there are many birds on the main four bird islands in the lakes.

There are three source rivers,northern one is Chachu,a small stream,the middle one is Yukuchonlekchu,the other is karichu,a big stream,Karichu is the true source of the Yellow River.



Kumbum monastery (Ta'er Si) of Gelukpa-se ct was built in 1560 and is one of the six grand monasteries in Tibet. Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Lamaistic "yellow hat sect", was born here. As Kumbum-monastery has always been
playing an important role to connect the Mongolian with the Lamaism, today many Tibetans and Mongolian s come to this place for worship.
