On May. 12th, the Wenchuan earthquake measured Richtzer 8.0 shocked the large area of China. The China National Tourism Administrative Bureau urgently informed that all the tour groups to Sichuan should be stopped immediately and the visitors in Sichuan should end  their tours at once and leave Sichuan as soon as possible.

Now, one month passed, what's going on hereside of the Tourism industry in Sichuan? Is it still safe to travel in this land of abundance? Were there some places destroyed and which places survived this rarly seen disasters? In order to give the visitors a general idea of the tourism after the earthquake, CTE dispatched several staff to the major scenic areas in Sichuan for a survery .For some places which are not accessible currently, we called the local relative  toursim admistrative bureaus for detailed information. Here,we brought back the latest news of most of the scenic areas in Sichuan.

First of all, we would like to let all the friends know that Chengdu city porper is absolutely safe. Any visitor is warmly welcome to visit Chengdu. The government has published the note that Chengdu is not in the after quake zone and the after quakes in Sichuan will not damage the city proper even though it will be felt.

The most faoums places, the world natural heritage Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong were almost affected nothing. They are still open to the visitors. The problem is the road which runs through the epic center Wenchuan were completely damaged.Probably, it will takes 3 months to half a year to repaire it. However, the airline Chengdu-Jiuzhaigou is still in operation. The traffic in Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong scenic area keeps as well as before. Optimistically estimate, Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong tour by flight will recover soon in the Mid June 2008.

Mt.emei and Leshan Grand Buddha which is another well-known world natural and cultural heritage survived the earthquake even better. In the dragon boat festival, the CTE staff went to visit it and happily found that everything here differs nothing from before. For more details please visit this page: Mt. Emei Tour Recovered after the Quake.

Unfortunately, another world natural and cultural heritage  Dujiangyan Irrigation System and Mt.Qingcheng were badly affected by the quake. Part of the buildings in Dujiangyan collapsed. The Qinyanlou pavilion on the top of the irrigation system Erwangmiao temple was breached. The buildings at Mt.Qingcheng especially at the back side  were almost all tore down by the strong quake. News from the local goverment said that it needs at least 3 months to reconstruct  Dujiangyan and Mt.Qingcheng scenic area.

Another concern to all of the visitors home and abroad is the Wolong Panda Nature Reserve, it was heavily destructed too. For it is located quite near the very Epic-center Yingxiu town of Wenchuan county, it was totally abolished. The pandas escaped the enclosures crossing over the collapsed walls. The scientists and keepers in the research institute risked the after quakes and the rolling stones from the mountain side to locate the pandas and protect them. Now some of the pandas were sent to Beijing Zoo, Ya'an Fengtongzhai Panda Reserve. The goverment is thinking of rebuilding of new panda research center at another place.

The other places such as Mt.Siguniang, Ganzi Tibetan area, Shunan Bamboo see etc. are all safe. Visitors can still visit the above places with no fear at all. For more details of travelling in Sichuan, please contact China Travelevery, we will provide you the accurate information in details.
