Potala Palace will not raise its ticket price until May 1, 2009, according to China Tibet Tourism Bureau on Wednesday.
The ticket price of this touristy site remains CNY 100, which is the price in the low season. As of May 1st, 2009, the ticket price will rise to CNY 200.
Last year, Tibetan relevant authorities have made the decision to sell the tickets at different prices in the low and high seasons. The normal price of a ticket is CNY 100 in the low season (Nov.1st –Apr.30th), and CNY 200 in the high season (May 1st -Oct.31st). The decision was planned to take effect in January 1, 2008.
After Tibet reopened to tourists, the ticket price was sold at CNY 100 in the high seasons of July, August and September, which was the planned ticket price in the low season. The ticket price will remain the same during the Golden Week of National Day.
For the moment, only a limited number of tourists are able to visit Potala Palace at a certain time every day. The daily receiving capacity is confined to 2,300 tourists.
